CHS CLASS OF 1959 50th Reunion - June 5-6, 2009

Initial Letter To Classmates - June 22, 2008

Can You Believe We’re Doing this?!!

Central High School Class of 1959 50th Reunion!

WE WANT YOU THERE!

Hello, All:

Well, here’s the letter so many of you have been asking and waiting for. Plans have begun!

A couple of weeks ago a small group of us met for a very preliminary meeting at Sharon and Mike Bartlett’s home. In addition to Sharon and Mike, those present were Marianne Barnes Aude, Don Barnum, Chelley Hurlbutt Wallack and myself. Fritzi Allsopp Prather was unable to attend due to foot surgery. We felt we should have activities on Friday night, Saturday afternoon, Saturday night and a no-host brunch at the hotel on Sunday.

Chelley and I have volunteered to do the mailings and the yearbook, but we need all the help we can get from those of you close enough to participate. We will need committees for Registration, Hospitality, Friday night events, Saturday and Saturday night events, Publicity and probably others that we did not think of.

Because I have had so many e-mails stating that you hoped we have the reunion before it gets hot in Tulsa, we decided to set the dates for June 5th & 6th, 2009.

Since Tulsa’s new BOK Center will be open by that time hotel space might be limited so we also decided we should find a hotel ASAP. Sharon took on that task and has narrowed it to two.

To be inclusive, we want to keep the per person expense down as much as possible, yet we want a very special reunion--the best ever--without having to cut corners in every direction. It is so important that the cost be low enough that everyone in our class can afford to be there! Therefore, we are asking that those of you who have been more fortunate to help underwrite the reunion by donating as much as you feel comfortable giving. If you can do this, please let me know.

Our first official meeting will be on July 9th, 7:00 p.m. at the Bartletts; 7535 South Gary Place - Guier Woods IV East, Tulsa. Again, WE WANT YOU AND YOUR IDEAS THERE! If you can help, again, let me know. You can reach me by

CHS CLASS OF 1959 45th Reunion

We had a "Get-Together" picnic to celebrate our 45th on September 11, 2004, in Broken Arrow, OK, at the home of Jack Davis. Ribs, chicken & links, soft drinks, tea & water were on the menu, along with side dishes and desert.

The event was organized by Karen Anderson Hughes, Tulsa, OK, and Nick Tuttle, Owasso, OK. It was planned to coincide with Jim Woolsey's appearance at Tulsa Town Hall on September 10.

There was a large turnout of over 100 alumni at the picnic. I don't have the exact count or a list of who was there, so I hesitate to list a few names for fear of ignoring all others. Nick Tuttle has a list though.

The Tulsa Central High School building is now the PSO building.  A new Tulsa Central High School was built and the old school building was purchased by Public Service Company of Oklahoma. The building is still at 212 E. 6th St, Tulsa, OK 74119.
